About this role
ER Ocean Recherche is a Paris-based startup innovating at the edge of material science and ocean conservation. As a Bio-based Materials R&D and Product Development Intern, you'll join a passionate team exploring seaweed, algae, and other organic feedstocks to create new-generation biopolymers and sustainable textiles. You'll contribute to a mission rooted in sustainability and circular economy for the oceans.
Your day-to-day involves lab experiments like mixing, compounding, curing, and prototyping novel sustainable materials such as polymers, leathers, and fibers. You'll use analytical techniques including tensile testing, spectroscopy, and rheology to guide formulation and explore scalable extraction methods for marine and plant-based sources. Documentation and coordination across scientific and production teams will ensure progress toward market readiness.
Work in a dynamic startup setting with both scientific depth and real-world impact, collaborating with local coastal partners and external production partners in France and beyond. The hybrid format offers flexible on-site/remote balance in the bio-based materials and sustainable innovation sector. This role suits those at the end of their engineering education.
Help prepare material certifications and assessments while scaling lab ideas into industry applications. Gain hands-on involvement from prototyping to go-to-market readiness in a mission-driven environment focused on preserving marine ecosystems. Ideal for recent graduates thriving on innovation in eco-friendly alternatives to plastics, rubber, and textiles.
