About this role

Huntsman Corporation offers an opportunity for a Process Development Chemist in its Advanced Materials division. You will oversee managing process development mandates as short-term sub-projects within longer business programs. These support new product introduction and manufacturing improvements while considering process safety management and EHS requirements.

Day-to-day duties include working toward a zero harms objective and ensuring safe work practices with full reporting of near misses and incidents. Implement EHS/PSM procedures like management of change, job safety analysis, and risk assessments. Support site HAZOP studies and drive new product introductions through feasibility studies and process parameter development.

In mandate management, evaluate feasibility, define goals, milestones, and resources with requesters. Execute using state-of-the-art tools for safe, economic solutions without environmental impact. Serve as a point of contact for internal customers including project managers, marketing, technology, manufacturing, quality, and engineering.

Requirements

  • PhD / MSc / BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years in a laboratory, production or process development area, preferably in a multinational company
  • Knowledge in organic chemistry, polymeric chemistry and epoxy chemistry
  • Knowledge in chemical engineering and understanding of chemical production process
  • In-depth knowledge in analytical methodology and proficient with statistic principles
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Lotus Notes)
  • Fluency in English
  • Project Management skills

Responsibilities

  • Work toward a zero harms objective
  • Ensure day-to-day work is carried out safely and report all near misses, incidents, and accidents
  • Implement EHS/PSM procedures including MoC, JSA, RA, and support site HAZOP studies
  • Implement New Product Introduction including feasibility study, process parameters, PSM/EHS review, and technical package preparation
  • Support business portfolio by rapid and efficient scale-up from lab to production
  • Evaluate feasibility of mandates and define goals, milestones, and resource needs
  • Execute mandates using state-of-the-art tools to deliver safe, practical, economic solutions
  • Act as process owner in projects and serve as point of contact for internal customers
