As Senior Polymer Engineer in the Brazilian materials team located at Retic facility, you will support testing programmes with internal and external facilities, including subsequent analysis and interpretation of test data for appropriate action and reporting.

Form strong links with the wider Technology and Supply chain organization across manufacturing hubs in Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, and Niteroi, Brazil, with co-located engineering offices. Provide support to polymer technology queries from internal and external customers while carrying out investigations of product and process failures.

Support the full lifecycle of project execution from bid kick-off meetings and project handovers to manufacturing technical support and final customer acceptance. Undertake specialist activities like chemical compatibility evaluations for polymer exposures and permeation assessments for gas species, while maintaining vendor technical liaison for continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of polymer materials used in unbonded flexible pipe systems
  • Experience with testing programmes and data analysis for polymeric products
  • Familiarity with API 17J standards for flexible pipelines
  • Expertise in chemical compatibility evaluations and permeation assessments for polymers
  • Proficiency in generating material qualification documents and procurement specifications
  • Skills in investigating and reporting product and process failures
  • Ability to provide technical consultancy on polymer technology
  • Experience maintaining technical liaison with vendors in the energy sector

Responsibilities

  • Support testing programmes with internal test facilities and external test houses, including subsequent analysis and interpretation of test data for appropriate action and reporting
  • Generate material qualification documents, procurement specifications and technical reports related to full polymeric product range including extruded materials and tapes
  • Provide support to polymer technology queries and clarifications from both internal and external customers
  • Carry out investigation, analysis and reporting of product and process failures in support of both internal and external customers
  • Provide a materials consultancy service to internal and external customers
  • Support the full lifecycle of project execution from participation in core business bid kick-off meetings and project handover meetings to manufacturing technical support and final customer acceptance
  • Provide technical support to existing vendors, develop and maintain technical liaison with vendors as part of continuous improvement, and respond to vendor polymer technology queries
  • Undertake specific activities related to specialist technical areas including chemical compatibility evaluations for polymer exposures and permeation assessments for polymers for a range of gas species
