Realize novel design ideas through hands-on synthetic chemistry in collaboration with project chemists, automated medicinal chemistry group, or contract-research-organizations. Provide state-of-the-art documentation of experiments, including analytical data analysis like LC-MS, MS, NMR, and physicochemical characterization. Contribute to lead identification from hit-structures in the >4.5 million compound library.

Be a member of project teams and design teams, collaborating with computational chemists on structure-based drug discovery. Help secure IP by contributing experimental parts to patent applications with patent lawyers. Ensure high safety standards and compliance in the work environment.

Requirements

  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or a related field
  • Knowledge of classical and modern synthetic methods as well as modern tools in chemical research
  • Experience in medicinal chemistry is a plus
  • Research experience in organic chemistry demonstrated by scientific publications and/or patent applications
  • Affinity to digital tools and their application in Drug Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry
  • Readiness to help implementing AI/ML in daily drug discovery tasks
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken, willingness to learn German

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects to identify pre-clinical and clinical development candidates addressing unmet medical needs
  • Collaboratively identify biologically active compounds for target validation and disease to target link clarification
  • Contribute to lead identification process based on hit-structures from >4.5 million compound library
  • Collaborate with computational chemists on structure-based drug discovery approaches
  • Realize novel design ideas by hands-on synthetic chemistry to reach project goals
  • Provide state-of-the-art documentation of experiments with analytical data analysis (LC-MS, MS, NMR) and physicochemical characterization
  • Help secure IP by contributing experimental parts to patent applications
  • Ensure high safety standards and compliance in work environment
