We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. We have an exciting opportunity for a talented chemist to join our Small-Molecule Drug Discovery Chemistry Department. The role focuses on medicinal chemistry in a multi-disciplinary environment.
The successful candidate will design and synthesize analogs for molecular targets. This involves applying innovative structure- and computation-driven design principles. Property-based design principles guide the work in a team-based culture.
Close collaboration occurs with other chemists and various functions. These include Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics, Structural Biology, and Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology. Additional partners encompass Machine Learning, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Safety, and disease area Biology.

Requirements
- PhD with 0-6 years of post-PhD experience, or equivalent and relevant experience in chemical research
- Expertise in modern synthetic organic chemistry demonstrated by at least one first-authored publication
- Ability to conduct multi-step syntheses and retrosynthetic analysis of complex molecules
- Extensive experience in medicinal chemistry, methodology/catalysis, total synthesis, chemical biology, or physical organic chemistry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams
- For candidates with significant industry experience, prepared to fully disclose details of accomplishments
Responsibilities
- Design analogs for molecular targets using structure-driven principles
- Synthesize compounds applying computation-driven design principles
- Apply property-based design principles to analog synthesis
- Conduct multi-step syntheses of complex molecules
- Perform retrosynthetic analysis of complex molecules
- Collaborate with Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics teams
- Partner with Structural Biology and Cellular Pharmacology groups
- Engage with Machine Learning, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and disease area Biology
