About this role
Revolution Medicines is a late-stage clinical oncology company developing novel targeted therapies for patients with RAS-addicted cancers. The R&D pipeline includes RAS(ON) inhibitors like daraxonrasib (RMC-6236), elironrasib (RMC-6291), zoldonrasib (RMC-9805), and RMC-5127 in clinical development. Join outstanding professionals committed to patients with RAS signaling pathway mutations.
Serve as a technical leader in the CRO management team within Medicinal Chemistry, reporting to the Director of CRO management. Responsible for route evaluation, enabling CRO teams for reaction condition optimization, and scale-up of key intermediates. Support Revolution Medicines Medicinal Chemistry efforts through rapid route transitions to PDM process chemistry.
Work closely with discovery chemistry teams, CROs, and PDM on project progress, material needs, and challenging chemistry solutions. Manage internal and external teams for gram-to-kilogram scale production of intermediates. Facilitate technology transfer to CMC process chemistry and CDMOs for process familiarization.
Propose chemistry routes using advanced technologies like flow chemistry, photochemistry, and biocatalysis to solve synthesis challenges. Communicate effectively in cross-functional project teams, write protocols and reports, and optimize aggressive timelines. Stay current with organic chemistry literature and emerging technologies to improve synthesis efficiency.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in organic chemistry or related discipline
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in Medicinal Chemistry or pharmaceutical process research and development
- Strong foundation and delivery track record in synthetic organic chemistry
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in modern characterization techniques (NMR, LC-MS, HPLC)
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound technically driven decision-making ability
Responsibilities
- Work closely with discovery chemistry teams to monitor project progress and provide support on material needs for building blocks, intermediates, and challenging chemistry
- Explore route scouting and optimization of key building blocks and intermediates for development candidates, validating synthetic and analytical protocols and evaluating scale-up safety
- Propose chemistry for building blocks and intermediates, including route evaluation and process optimization using advanced technologies like flow chemistry, photochemistry, and biocatalysis
- Manage internal and external teams to scale up intermediates from gram-scale to kilogram-scale production supporting discovery chemistry efforts
- Improve overall efficiency of target synthesis for discovery and CMC process chemistry, providing manufacturing-friendly solutions
- Manage technology transfer from discovery chemistry to CMC process chemistry and assist with process familiarization at CDMOs
- Work with project teams to identify development candidate requirements and manage aggressive project timelines
- Write, review, and approve study protocols, manufacturing batch records, and development and campaign reports
