About this role
At Illumina, we are expanding access to genomic technology to realize health equity for billions of people. As a Scientist 1 within the Advanced Science team, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary research team to create new sequencing methods. You will develop sequencing reagents and consumables with world-class performance, stability and robustness.
You will be the main contributor on projects, leading investigations to solve cross-functional problems with key stakeholders. Plan and optimize research ideas for new methods and chemistries in a fast-paced environment. Explore new technologies and identify creative solutions to overcome current limitations.
Design, implement, analyze and present experiments to demonstrate feasibility of new technology. Be a collaborative team member and individual contributor. Conduct clear and concise communication through oral updates, written reports and technical meetings.

Requirements
- Proven track record in innovation, scientific creativity and scientific output in new chemistry, bioconjugates and material science
- Expert in synthesis and analytical techniques for small molecules, nucleosides, nucleotides, oligonucleotides and/or peptides
- Excellent laboratory, experimental and organizational skills
- Strong team player with proven collaboration, innovation, and openness character traits
- Collaborates effectively at a program level and with stakeholders
- Attention to detail
- A self-starter, positive, and driven with a “can do” attitude
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Responsibilities
