Headquartered in Pleasanton, California, our mission is to unlock proteoforms through a revolutionary proteomics platform. We seek a talented Senior Staff/Principal Scientist to lead chemistry efforts for multi-step chemical processes in sequencing technology.

You will contribute as a full-time bench scientist and leader of the chemistry team. Design, implement, and adjust strategies for developing chemistries in a non-mass spec-based proteomics workflow. Develop, verify, and optimize protocols to accommodate cross-functional processes including automation.

Work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment. Manage multiple timelines across diverse projects in coordination with other functions. Participate in team activities to rapidly identify and resolve problems while advancing projects through internal reviews.

Proactively seek innovation to build a technology pipeline and IP portfolio. Communicate chemistry strategy to external parties and secure internal/external resources. Join a mission-driven team impacting drug discovery, biomarker development, and precision medicine.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, or chemical engineering with at least 10 years of professional experience in biotech or pharma
  • Thought leader in protein and nucleic acid chemistry
  • Extensive experience developing novel chemical methodologies for proximity ligation, surface/beads chemistry, assay development, protein conjugation, proteomics sample preparation, post-translational modifications, solid-phase synthesis, and advanced purification techniques
  • Deep understanding of Edman degradation in protein sequencing chemistry
  • Good relationships with commercial resources providing analytical analysis of small molecules and macromolecules
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and within a team
  • Excellent people skills and presentation skills
  • Willing and capable of hands-on wet-lab work

  • Contribute as a full-time bench scientist and leader of the chemistry team
  • Design, implement, and adjust strategies and R&D plans for chemistries in non-mass spec-based proteomics workflow
  • Develop, verify, and optimize protocols for cross-functional processes including automation
  • Manage and prioritize multiple timelines across diverse projects in coordination with other functions
  • Communicate overall chemistry strategy and rationale to external parties
  • Proactively seek innovation to build and expand technology pipeline and IP portfolio
  • Actively identify, build, and secure internal and external resources to support R&D
  • Create and maintain a scientific advisory group to support R&D work
