About this role

Bicycle Therapeutics develops Bicycle® molecules, fully synthetic short peptides constrained by small molecule scaffolds for high-affinity target binding. Your mission applies deep expertise in synthetic and medicinal chemistry to design novel Bicycle® molecules and conjugates. Lead chemistry workstreams to advance the oncology pipeline toward clinical candidates.

Take a leading role in project teams designing bioactive Bicycle® peptides aligned with Target Product Profiles. Manage external CROs by developing workplans, tracking progress, and ensuring high-quality compound delivery. Critically evaluate analytical data including NMR, LCMS, and HPLC to troubleshoot challenges.

Interpret SAR data on activity, selectivity, and DMPK using structure-based drug design to optimize leads. Collaborate with cross-functional scientists across Platform, Biology, DMPK, Pharmacology, and CMC. Prepare reports, draft patent applications, and present findings in team meetings.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in synthetic and medicinal chemistry
  • Proficiency in structure-based drug design
  • Experience interpreting SAR data including activity, selectivity, and DMPK properties
  • Proven ability managing external CROs for chemistry synthesis and delivery
  • Skilled in evaluating analytical data from NMR, LCMS, and HPLC
  • Knowledge of peptide chemistry and constrained peptide optimization
  • Cross-functional collaboration in drug discovery teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead chemistry activities within project teams, contributing to design and synthesis of novel bioactive Bicycle® peptides
  • Apply structure-based drug design expertise to interpret SAR data (activity, selectivity, DMPK) and guide lead compound optimisation
  • Contribute to introduction and development of new chemical innovations expanding platform capabilities
  • Manage chemistry activities at external CROs, developing detailed workplans and ensuring timely delivery of data and compounds
  • Critically evaluate analytical data (NMR, LCMS, HPLC) from CROs and troubleshoot synthetic challenges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Platform, Biology, DMPK, Pharmacology, and CMC
  • Prepare detailed reports, contribute to patent applications, and present research findings in meetings
