This onsite laboratory position involves devising and implementing state-of-the-art scientific research through conducting experiments and planning detailed procedures with timelines, milestones, and resources. Review, analyze, and interpret scientific data, providing regular updates and documentation on project results. Collaborate with other scientists while keeping current with literature and technology developments.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree and 3 years of laboratory experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of laboratory experience
  • Doctorate degree in chemistry specializing in organic synthesis
  • 2+ years of experience in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry
  • Consistent track record of academic accomplishments (e.g., peer-reviewed publications and/or patents)
  • Demonstration of good lab practices, with particular attention to safety
  • Clear understanding of structural determination using NMR and MS techniques as well as knowledge of related purification methods
  • Initial understanding of biological and pharmaceutical principles and working knowledge of structure-based or other computer-aided drug design tools
  • Knowledge of the application of parallel synthesis techniques to synthetic or medicinal chemistry

Responsibilities

  • Design, synthesize, and purify novel compounds for potential clinical drug development
  • Work within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) focused on PROTAC modality
  • Devise and implement state-of-the-art scientific research through conducting laboratory experiments
  • Plan detailed procedures for defined projects including timelines, milestones, methodological approaches, expected results, and necessary resources
  • Review, analyze, and interpret scientific data and results
  • Provide regular updates, documentation, and communication on project results
  • Collaborate with other scientists and keep current with field of expertise including literature and technology development
  • Advise supervisors and colleagues in areas of expertise, participate in meetings, support publications or patents, and mentor research associates
