About this role

Monte Rosa Therapeutics is seeking a passionate Intern in Synthetic Chemistry for 6 months to help eliminate disease-causing proteins through targeted protein degradation—a novel way of drugging un-druggable proteins. You will work with an industry leader who will direct and mentor you on your project. Bridge the medicinal chemistry team and the chemistry CRO in designing synthetic routes for biologically relevant compounds.

Design syntheses of target compounds and improve existing synthetic routes. Understand synthetic chemistry issues affecting the project. Utilize literature searches to solve specific research problems and share technical knowledge in written and oral formats.

Learn, acquire, and propose state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies. Utilize training and resources to stay current in synthetic organic chemistry. Show initiative to expand scope and depth of theoretical competence through hands-on laboratory experience.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree with 2-4 years industrial experience or PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry with laboratory-based experience
  • Ability to simultaneously balance multiple tasks
  • Show initiative to expand scope and depth of theoretical competence
  • Independently plan work to support team and project objectives
  • Work together with other members of a project team to accomplish team objectives
  • Clearly communicate ideas and research results in written and oral format
  • Analytical data interpretation (e.g. NMR, LCMS)
  • Knowledge of literature search databases and chemistry software (e.g. Chemdraw)
