NYU Sydney seeks a lecturer to teach Organic Chemistry I to undergraduate students during the August-November 2026 semester. Classes meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11am-1pm for lectures and recitations, with laboratory classes Thursdays 6-10pm at University of Sydney's Camperdown/Darlington Campus. The highly structured curriculum is set by the home department in NY for science majors and pre-medical students.

Instructors prepare and lead weekly class sessions, recitations, and laboratory classes. Responsibilities include course coordination, writing assignments, and grading. Lecturers attend periodic meetings and training, including an induction during orientation week.

Requirements

  • Based in Sydney
  • Hold a doctorate in Chemistry or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience teaching university students at the undergraduate level
  • Knowledge of organic chemistry topics including structure, bonding, nomenclature, stereochemistry, hydrocarbon reactions, and spectroscopy
  • Familiarity with organic lab techniques such as crystallization, distillation, extraction, chromatography, synthesis, and qualitative analysis
