Conduct synthesis and scale-up of small organic molecules, intermediates, and active ingredients from milligram to multikilogram quantities. Plan synthesis routes including retrosynthesis and literature search. Develop and optimize processes for advanced intermediates and finished products chemically, physically, and preparatively.

Plan, evaluate, and document experiments while preparing tech transfer documents such as lab development reports. Support tolling related activities. Collaborate with cross-functional project teams including research, analytical, and safety groups.

Requirements

  • Postgraduate (M.Sc.) in organic chemistry with sound theoretical knowledge in organic synthesis
  • Working experience of 5 to 8 years in chemical, pharmaceutical, or agrochemical industry as a chemist
  • Adequate communication and technical skills required to perform the job
  • Experience in retrosynthetic analysis and literature searching for synthesis planning
  • Proficiency in multikilogram scale-up and process optimization
  • Ability to document experiments and prepare lab development reports

Responsibilities

  • Synthesis and scale-up of small organic molecules, intermediates, active ingredients on milligram to multikilogram quantities
  • Planning of synthesis including retrosynthesis and literature search
  • Process development and optimization of routes to advanced intermediates and finished products (chemical, physical, and preparative)
  • Planning, evaluating, and documenting experiments; preparing tech transfer documents such as lab development reports; support in tolling related activities
  • Collaborating with cross-functional project teams such as research, analytical, safety
  • Adhering to BASF Environmental Health Safety (EHS), HR policies, and work practices
