About this role

The Senior Research Chemist develops new cleaners/etchants used to manufacture semiconductor IC, memory, and MEMS devices. This role requires in-depth knowledge of semiconductor fabrication, cleans, etches, electrochemistry, and surface preparation. Perform statistics-based experimental designs to develop innovative performance chemistries.

Starting with the concept of what is needed, develop commercially viable products in a timely fashion. Plan and conduct a variety of complex technical projects under general directions. Perform work independently with instructions as to general results expected and adhere to all safety rules.

Collaborate with Applications Engineers and Sales to introduce products into customer applications. Lead joint development activities with external research firms. Work with research staff, process development, pilot plant, production, QC, marketing, and customers to introduce new products and technology.

Consult with top management and research team, making recommendations based on findings. Participate in technical and business strategy development. Present work at scientific meetings and trade shows, providing training on new products and methods.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
  • Sound knowledge of organic, inorganic, organometallic and analytical chemistries
  • Knowledge of semiconductor or memory device fabrication processes
  • Proficiency in electrochemistry including electrochemical, physical property measurements
  • Skilled in wet etching or wet cleans
  • Ability to develop innovative approaches to solving complex problems
  • Familiarity with statistical application, chemical and technical literature
  • Ability to independently design, conduct experiments and analyze results
