Basel, CH · Full-time · CHF 40,000 – CHF 55,000
About this role
The Medicinal Chemistry department in Basel focuses on discovering innovative new medicines for neuroscience, ophthalmology, rare diseases, infectious diseases, and oncology. Located in world-class facilities with state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry infrastructure, it hosts ~20 internship students from European universities each year for a dynamic and collegial experience. The department consists of synthetic organic medicinal chemists dedicated to unmet medical needs.
Working in a state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry laboratory, you will synthesize novel chemical entities using the full range of modern synthetic organic chemistry and purification methods. Together with colleagues across scientific disciplines in pRED, the molecules will be tested for biological and drug-like properties to generate structure-activity-property relationships iteratively.
As part of Therapeutic Modalities, Small Molecule Research (pRED), you will collaborate interactively with scientific and medical disciplines involved in drug discovery. The international environment features day-to-day scientific communication in English, with German or French as a bonus. This setup fosters open dialogue and genuine connections.
You will present research results to peers and the department via presentation and poster sessions. An education program will strengthen your synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry skills. Join to thrive personally and professionally while contributing to preventing, stopping, and curing diseases.
