UHN is Canada’s top research hospital with the largest hospital-based research program in Canada, focusing on neurosciences, oncology and more. The Weaver Medicinal Chemistry Research Lab at Krembil Brain Institute designs therapeutic molecules for neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s Disease. As Postdoctoral Researcher, you will synthesize small molecules as drug platforms.

You will conduct multi-step synthesis using state-of-the-art techniques and maintain detailed lab books and data records. Assist in grant applications, publications, and supervise students as required. Follow safety protocols, manage lab supplies, and update chemical inventory.

Join a multi-disciplinary team of computational and synthetic chemists, biochemists, molecular biologists, and neuroscientists. Collaborate across disciplines, integrating non-chemistry data in a large, diverse research group. Work closely with computational chemists and biologists at Krembil Discovery Tower.

Contribute to discovery and patient care at a national leader in biomedical research affiliated with University of Toronto. Gain exposure to complex cases and innovative research in a top global hospital. Build skills through publications, grants, and student supervision.

Requirements

  • PhD in synthetic organic chemistry or synthetic medicinal chemistry obtained within the previous 5 years
  • Significant experience and expertise in synthetic organic chemistry
  • Solid documentation and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate with scientists from other disciplines integrating data from non-chemistry sources
  • Must be able to work in a large, diverse research group

Responsibilities

  • Conduct multi-step synthesis of small molecules using state-of-the-art synthetic chemistry techniques
  • Maintain lab book and data records
  • Assist in preparation of grant applications and publications
  • Assist and supervise undergraduate and graduate students as required
  • Follow all safety protocols
  • Follow process for ordering, receiving and maintaining lab supplies
  • Update and use chemical inventory as required
