WACKER, one of the world's most research-intensive chemical companies, develops sustainable solutions from vegan food to solar cells. To strengthen the team in Allentown, they seek a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Development Chemist Intern for the WSMI Technical team. This role offers hands-on experience in Research & Development, Silicone Chemistry, Production Realization, Quality Control, and Project Management.

The intern will assist with Product Development and Product Realization for Contract Development Customer Projects. Responsibilities include conducting research, compiling data for specification targets, and supporting specification development for product validation. Daily tasks involve attending team meetings, contributing ideas, and preparing reports or presentations.

Work collaboratively with team members on real-world projects that make a meaningful impact. Follow safety procedures, maintain confidentiality, and engage in professional development opportunities. The position requires full-time in-person availability Monday through Friday for the 12-week program.

Requirements

  • Rising sophomore or higher pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Available full-time in person (Mon–Fri) for 12-week program
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry
  • Basic hands-on lab experience including building or assembling prototypes, conducting simple tests or experiments, and following test protocols
  • Familiarity with prototype development processes from coursework, labs, or projects
  • Ability to support design iterations based on testing results

Responsibilities
