Course content encompasses fundamental concepts of organic chemistry, including introduction to classes of organic compounds, structure, properties, nomenclature, and stereochemistry. Faculty cover organic reactions, functional derivatives, reaction mechanisms, and organic polymer chemistry. Lectures and laboratories have separate codes but count as one course for teaching load.

Laboratory courses supplement lectures and integrate virtual or at-home assignments taken concurrently. This setup enhances understanding of subject matter in competency-based education programs. Online delivery options align with our multi-campus model.

Requirements

  • Acceptable master’s degree in the specific subject matter field (doctorate preferred)
  • Or earned master’s or doctoral degree with 18 graduate semester hours in subject matter field
  • Experience teaching similar courses at a higher education institute
  • Experience teaching online (preferred)
  • Subject matter expertise in organic chemistry fundamentals and mechanisms

Responsibilities

  • Teach fundamental concepts and principles of organic chemistry
  • Introduce various classes of organic compounds, their structure, properties, nomenclature, and stereochemistry
  • Provide in-depth understanding of organic reactions, functional derivatives, reaction mechanisms, and organic polymer chemistry
  • Deliver laboratory courses concurrently with lectures using virtual or at-home assignments
  • Supplement lecture content through integrated laboratory experiences
  • Manage Organic Chemistry I Lecture and Lab as a single course for teaching load
