About this role
Develop polymer formulations and polymerisation strategies for aevoloop’s novel, polyester-based plastics. Define the desired properties of the target polymer and develop a R&D plan to achieve them. Design and optimize synthesis routes and scale-up to the 100+ kilogram range, assessing hazards and costs.
Lead and interpret analytical workstreams including DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, MFI, viscosity, TAN, mechanical testing, and weathering/hydrolytic stability. Define the ideal polymer formulation to achieve desired mechanical and processing properties. Work closely with process engineers to translate R&D findings into robust, scalable processes.
Develop compounds based on polymer technology in collaboration with external partners to fine-tune material properties. Create sustainable plastic products for extrusion, injection moulding, and film blowing, preparing prototypes for 3D printing filaments, fibers, or packaging. Identify and validate new applications in packaging, 3D printing, textiles, and composites.

Requirements
- Advanced expertise in polymer chemistry, particularly polyester and polyamide, with at least two years' industrial experience
- Hands-on experience in polycondensation (batch and continuous) and polymer processing (compounding, extrusion, injection moulding, film blowing, 3D printing, fibre spinning)
- Deep familiarity with analytical methods: DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, mechanical testing, TAN, weathering/hydrolytic stability
- Proven skills in agile project management, CRO/supplier coordination, and patent screening/filing
- Well-versed in REACH/CLP, life cycle assessment (LCA), recycling, and end-of-life strategies
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); German advantageous
- Hands-on mindset, efficient work structure, seamless cross-disciplinary collaboration in fast-paced startup
