About this role
Develop polymerisation strategies and a structured R&D plan to prepare polymer formulations for aevoloop’s novel, polyester-based plastics. Target circular plastic products for extrusion, injection moulding and film blowing to prepare semi-finished prototypes for 3D printing filaments, fibers or packaging.
Design and optimize synthesis routes with scale-up to the 100+ kilogram range. Check principal recyclability by developing depolymerisation procedures for selective recycling back to monomers. Lead analytical workstreams including DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, MFI, viscosity, TAN, mechanical testing and weathering stability.
Work closely with process engineers to translate R&D findings into robust, scalable processes. Thrive in a fast-paced startup with flat hierarchies, agile work and interdisciplinary collaboration guided by curiosity, transparency and responsibility.

Requirements
- Advanced expertise in polymer chemistry, particularly polyester and polyamide, built within a PhD in polymer chemistry, chemistry, or related field; industrial experience advantageous
- Hands-on experience in polycondensation (polyesters, polyamides) or polyurethane chemistry; experience with biodegradable and/or circular polymers advantageous
- Deep familiarity with analytical and characterisation methods for polymers: DSC, TGA, NMR, SEC, rheology, mechanical testing (tensile, impact strength, HDT), TAN, weathering/hydrolytic stability
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); German language skills advantageous
- Hands-on mindset, structure work efficiently, and collaborate seamlessly across disciplines in a fast-paced startup environment
