About this role

BFH seeks a Polymer Chemist for applied research projects in Biel. The role centers on developing bio-based polymer systems for sustainable building materials through synthesis and formulation work. This is a limited 2-year position with option to extend, at 80-100% employment.

Plan and execute various syntheses, including production of target compounds and controlled polymerization. Develop and optimize synthesis methods to advance research objectives. Focus on creating formulations that enable production of eco-friendly building materials.

Cooperate closely with national and international partners in collaborative efforts. Work as a communicative team player with quick comprehension and enthusiasm. Demonstrate initiative in application-oriented research with a customer-focused approach.

Take on responsibility in applied research projects and service contracts as experience grows. Leverage strong analytical skills and commitment to quality. Start by appointment, contributing to innovative polymer chemistry advancements.

Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry with experience in organic and polymer chemistry
  • Good knowledge in instrument-based analytics (HPLC, GPC, GC, NMR, DSC and FT-IR)
  • Strong interest in application-oriented research demonstrated through initiative, commitment to quality, and customer-oriented approach
  • Communicative personality and team player with quick comprehension, great enthusiasm, and good analytical skills
  • Very good communication skills in English; German and/or French appreciated
