The College of Natural Sciences employs passionate faculty who engage students in chemistry to advance scientific knowledge. Adjunct instructors teach part-time, face-to-face Organic Chemistry I Lab at the Phoenix campus starting Fall 2026. Join the mission to help students grow academically, spiritually, and personally.
In the CHM-231 lab, students reinforce lecture principles using techniques organic chemists apply, including melting point determination, solubility tests, thin layer chromatography, recrystallization, and distillation. Structural determination theories are applied to unknown compounds throughout the semester. Provide exceptional instruction in modern facilities with smaller class sizes.
Faculty serve as energetic advisors and expert collaborators enhancing the college experience for all students. Facilitate learning while assessing performance and mentoring success. Support the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission as a positive example.

Requirements
- Master’s or Doctorate in Chemistry with an emphasis in Organic Chemistry (preferred)
- Master's in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry emphasizing Organic Chemistry (minimum)
- Unofficial transcript reflecting degree earned with 18 graduate credit hours in Chemistry
- Unofficial transcripts for any applicable conferred graduate degrees
- Passion for teaching exceptional quality instruction
- Commitment to student academic, spiritual, and personal growth
Responsibilities
- Facilitate lab discussions and hands-on activities
- Engage students in learning course objectives and lab topics
- Assess student performance and mentor success in the lab
- Teach techniques including melting point determination, solubility, thin layer chromatography, recrystallization, and distillation
- Apply structural determination to unknown compounds
- Provide a positive example by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission
