About this role

We are looking for a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join an innovative chemistry research program funded by an ARC Discovery Project. This exciting role works at the interface of chemistry and biology. It contributes to cutting-edge research aiming to covalently attach redox-active transition metal complexes to protein surfaces.

You will bring a strong track record in synthetic chemistry, with experience in covalent modification and characterisation of proteins as an advantage. Key responsibilities include producing high-quality research outputs, contributing to grant applications, and supporting research translation. This is a research-focused position within The School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences.

Requirements

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in synthetic chemistry
  • Strong track record in synthetic chemistry
  • Developing track record of publications in reputable refereed journals and presentations at conferences
  • Experience in bioconjugation strategies
  • Experience in transition metal chemistry
  • Experience in electrochemistry
  • Proficiency in protein characterisation techniques

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality research outputs aligned with disciplinary standards
  • Contribute to competitive grant applications
  • Develop an emerging research profile
  • Support the translation of research into impact, including knowledge transfer and commercialisation
  • Contribute to supervision and development of Honours and HDR students and research staff
  • Synthesise redox-active transition metal complexes
  • Perform covalent modification and characterisation of proteins
  • Conduct electrochemistry studies on bioconjugated systems
