Longmont, US · Internship · $44,000 – $70,000

About this role

The R&D Materials Science Lab is a leader in materials and chemicals analysis, serving as a hub for materials science challenges in the Drive Design Center. The lab team works closely with cross-functional partners including Product Design Engineering, Head and Media Factories, and Supplier Quality Engineering. It hosts state-of-the-art techniques like GC-MS, FTIR, TGA, DSC, Raman, and surface analysis.

You will assist with routine organic lab tasks such as sample preparation, chemical handling, and data entry while maintaining a clean lab environment per safety protocols. Tasks include performing glassware validations, preparing GC standard curves, and supporting the new Organic Disc Extractor commissioning with setup and testing. Documentation of procedures and results ensures accurate internal reporting.

Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot experiments and improve workflows in a dynamic setting. Work closely with the Seagate worldwide materials science community on complicated materials issues. The Longmont campus offers an active on-site experience with a cafeteria, barista espresso, and fitness options.
