About this role

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a business unit of Element Solutions Inc, innovates specialty chemicals and materials to power electronics interconnection across global regions. Circuitry Solutions designs proprietary liquid chemical processes for printed circuit board manufacturing, including surface treatments, circuit formation, primary metallization, electroplate, and final finishes. This role drives development of innovative, differentiated, high-performance materials for Circuitry Solutions product lines.

The Research Chemist develops new products, material testing strategies and protocols, formulations, and modifies or optimizes existing products. Work closely with scientists, product managers, application, and marketing managers globally to execute product roadmaps and strategies in existing and adjacent markets. Focus on surface treatment products for printed circuit board, molded interconnect, connector, and IC substrate industries.

Hold self to the highest safety standards while building a strong safety culture in laboratory activities. Actively participate in workgroup team meetings addressing safety, process improvement, problem-solving, and other topics. Collaborate with Semiconductor Solutions, Circuitry Solutions, and Assembly Solutions divisions for design, implementation, and technical service.

Mentor junior level scientists and technologists while delivering presentations that distill complex ideas into precise results. Communicate work through internal presentations, external publications, reports, and patent disclosures. Leverage external networks, establish customer and OEM relationships, and engage in scientific venues for project success.

Requirements

  • In-depth understanding of patents and literature for resin systems, chemistry, and polymers in surface treatment technologies
  • Expertise in developing and formulating chemical processes for printed circuit board manufacturing
  • Ability to design material testing strategies and protocols for new and existing products
  • Proficiency in optimizing formulations for high-performance materials in electronics interconnection
  • Strong capability to distill complex technical ideas into presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Experience working independently in a high-paced, multi-task environment with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of EH&S standards, policies, and procedures applicable to laboratory work
  • Professional attitude with ability to handle confidential information per non-disclosure guidelines

  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of patents and literature for new resin systems, chemistry, and polymers across related technology areas
  • Deliver presentations and reports that distill complex ideas into precise results and proposals to influence audiences
  • Actively participate in workgroup team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem-solving, and other topics
  • Mentor junior level scientists and technologists
  • Communicate and document work through internal presentations, external publications, reports, and draft patent disclosures
  • Leverage external networks for project success, establish relationships with customers and OEMs, and engage in scientific venues
