About this role

The Synthetic Chemist II designs, validates, and implements synthesis projects in organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, bioconjugation, purification, and characterization of compounds of interest. This role involves performing testing, producing accurate data, and reporting results. General lab duties and maintenance are also key responsibilities.

Daily tasks include reading and interpreting standards and regulations, setting up tests, monitoring progress, and recording data. Prepare samples for testing using prescribed methods and conduct testing on various samples following specifications. Perform quality and safety checks prior to testing and maintain equipment readiness.

Work closely with senior scientists to achieve team objectives and research milestones in a flexible, team-oriented lab environment. Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and coordinate with internal and external contacts. Troubleshoot client issues to enhance satisfaction while complying with policies.

Maintain accurate records, evaluate data critically, and follow good documentation practices. Adhere to company Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and procedures. Stay updated on current methods and products for ongoing synthesis and testing projects.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable ability to function independently and work within a flexible, team-oriented lab environment
  • Ability to work within cross-functional project teams
  • Knowledge of standards for appropriate test methods and SOP’s
  • Proficiency in good documentation practices and notebooking
  • Understanding of Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot synthesis issues and client questions
  • Familiarity with organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, and bioconjugation techniques
  • Experience with purification and characterization of compounds

Responsibilities

  • Design, validate and implement synthesis projects in organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, bioconjugation, purification, and characterization of compounds of interest
  • Work closely with senior scientists to accomplish team objectives and research milestones
  • Maintain accurate record keeping, perform independent data analyses, and report data in written and oral formats
  • Critically evaluate data and results and troubleshoot synthesis issues
  • Prepare a variety of samples for testing using prescribed testing methods, following testing standards and specifications
  • Conduct testing on a variety of samples using prescribed testing methods
  • Accurately report and record test data in electronic notebook or handwritten notebooks
  • Maintain supplies, lab cleanliness and analytical instrumentation
