About this role
The School of Molecular Sciences at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Instructor position starting August 2026. This benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible role is renewable on an academic year basis, contingent upon satisfactory performance, resources, and university needs.
Daily responsibilities involve leading organic chemistry laboratory sections and coordinating with the chemical stockroom for experiment preparation. The role includes assisting in testing and developing new experiments, plus participating in training and supervision of teaching assistants for immersion and online courses.
SMS features over 65 faculty, 100 staff, and 2000 students advancing science and technology innovation. It supports 1800 undergraduates in biochemistry and chemistry degrees, influencing university initiatives in health, sustainability, energy, and materials.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in chemistry or closely related technical science and engineering field by time of appointment
- One year of teaching or teaching assistant experience at the college level
- Evidence of strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills reflected in the submitted application materials
- Prior teaching experience in Organic Chemistry
- Effective teaching ability as evidenced by peer and/or student reviews
- Experience with curriculum development
- Experience with non-traditional models of instruction such as collaborative learning and guided inquiry
- Multimedia presentation skills
Responsibilities
- Lead organic chemistry laboratory sections

- Participate in training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants
- Supervise teaching assistants for both immersion and online courses
