Undergrad Teaching Assistant - Organic Chemistry

About this role

This is a part-time, non-benefited position open only to UND students. Successful applicants will instruct Organic Chemistry labs and work closely with students. The role requires 5-10 hours per week with no remote or hybrid work availability.

Daily tasks involve proctoring evening exams for the companion lecture course and giving pre- and post-lab discussions. You will instruct and troubleshoot lab experiments while grading student work. Additional duties include using Blackboard and providing extra help during a weekly office hour.

The position demands excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of General and Organic Chemistry. Work in a directed yet unsupervised manner with a conscientious work ethic. Collaborate directly with undergraduate students in lab settings.

Applicants must complete a Criminal History Background Check and verify US work eligibility. No visa sponsorship is available for continued employment. Preferred candidates bring experience and proficiency as a teaching assistant.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Solid understanding of General and Organic Chemistry
  • Ability to work in a directed yet unsupervised manner
  • Conscientious work ethic
  • Enrolled at least half-time
  • Completed at least 45 credits of undergraduate coursework
  • Completed Organic Chemistry course with Lab or equivalent with a grade of B or better
  • Overall GPA over 3.0
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
