At US Conec, we design and manufacture precision fiber-optic interconnects that power the world’s fastest data centers, telecom networks, and supercomputers. We’re the backbone powering AI. We seek a motivated Materials Science Engineering Intern excited to develop skills bridging analytical research and manufacturing processes using material structure–property relationships.

You’ll develop a strong understanding of all aspects of the manufacturing process using key analytical tools. Apply knowledge of drying, rheology, and thermal properties of materials to support process improvements. Gain hands-on experience with advanced analytical lab equipment including SEM, AFM, TGA, DSC, TMA, rheometers, moisture analysis, microscopy, particle size analysis, and gas pycnometry.

Collect and analyze data to make informed, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Eagerness to learn and collaborate will help you thrive. Exposure to real-world challenges optimizes manufacturing efficiency and product performance.

Apply design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis techniques to solve manufacturing problems. Build skills in polymer-related processes like compounding and twin-screw extrusion. This internship offers practical insights into precision manufacturing for high-tech applications.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, MiniTab, MatLab, Trios, and CAD software
  • Understanding of polymer compounding and twin-screw extrusion
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and thrive in fast-paced team environment

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong understanding of manufacturing process using key analytical tools
  • Apply knowledge of drying, rheology, and thermal properties to support process improvements
  • Operate advanced analytical equipment including SEM, AFM, TGA, DSC, TMA, Parallel Plate Rheometer, Capillary Rheometer, Moisture Analysis, Polarizing Light Microscopy, Particle Size Analysis, and Gas Pycnometry
  • Collect and analyze data to make data-driven decisions
  • Apply design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis to solve manufacturing problems
  • Support polymer compounding and twin-screw extrusion processes
