About this role

10x Genomics seeks an outstanding Senior Scientist for the Process Development team to support development and commercial launch of new products. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with Chemistry, Microfluidics, custom plastic consumables, Assay Development, and Production teams. Candidates need broad knowledge of chemical processes and analytical methods in polymer, surfactant, or surface chemistry.

Work cross-functionally to develop, optimize, validate, and transfer new chemistries and processes for producing 10x reagents and consumables. Act as technical lead using custom equipment, optical imaging, and analytical testing for chemistry-based production processes. Develop deep understanding of interplay between chemistry, microfluidics, production, and molecular biology to troubleshoot deviations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Surface Chemistry, and 4+ years of industry experience
  • Ability to integrate a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines
  • Ability to design meaningful experiments and in-depth analysis of results with experience using statistical tools for process control
  • Good documentation skills and ability to communicate experimental design, results and plans through presentations and reports
  • Understanding of physical chemical principles to scale up chemical manufacturing processes
  • Ability to develop, validate and transfer processes to manufacturing or OEM vendors
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead to develop, optimize and support chemistry-based production processes using custom equipment, optical imaging, and analytical testing
  • Develop deep understanding of interplay between chemistry, microfluidics, production processes, and molecular biology to identify root causes of deviations and implement solutions
  • Plan and execute experiments, maintain accurate records of experimental details, perform in-depth data analysis, and communicate results through documentation and presentations
  • Write protocols, develop procedures, and maintain accurate records
  • Communicate and present results clearly and contribute data for critical design decisions
  • Support process development, scale-up, implementation, and validation in commercial manufacturing facilities
