About this role

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) seeks a tenure-track faculty member in Organic Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses while pursuing research interests, preferably in organic polymer or organic materials chemistry. This position requires service to the department, college, and university.

Teach introductory and general chemistry at the undergraduate level, and organic chemistry and special topics at undergraduate and graduate levels. Hold weekly office hours, attend faculty meetings, and participate in assessment of student learning. The role may involve teaching on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry from an accredited institution, with thesis research in organic chemistry
  • Clear potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in person
  • Evidence of, or clear potential for, mentoring diverse undergraduate/graduate students
  • High-caliber research experience in organic chemistry, preferably in organic polymer or organic materials chemistry
  • Well thought-out, robust plan of independent research activity, feasible for success at CSUN

Responsibilities
