Monte Rosa Therapeutics

Senior Scientist - Medicinal Chemistry, Lead Generation

6d

Monte Rosa Therapeutics

Boston, US · Full-time · $180,000 – $240,000

About this role

Monte Rosa Therapeutics seeks an enthusiastic, creative and highly talented medicinal chemist eager to discover molecular glue degraders (MGDs) that eliminate disease-causing proteins previously thought undruggable. This position plays a key role in advancing drug discovery projects from Lead Identification through development candidate nomination and beyond. It also enhances the MRT degradation platform.

The successful candidate will devise and implement medicinal chemistry strategies to advance projects from hit validation through lead optimization to development candidates. Analyze High Throughput Screening (HTS) output to identify promising starting points from the growing MGD library. Develop hit follow up and lead generation strategies in collaboration with discovery scientists.

Serve as chemistry project lead for protein degradation projects and provide progressability assessments for early targets. Efficiently execute compound syntheses through the CRO network by devising efficient synthetic routes. Collaborate with external research partners across multi-disciplinary teams including biochemistry, biology, and DMPK.

Communicate scientific findings and project updates to senior leadership and governance. Summarize and publish findings in manuscripts and patents when appropriate. Leverage state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry expertise and passion for advancing projects towards clinical development candidates.

Requirements

  • PhD in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry, or MS with 8+ years of experience
  • Experience in the field of Targeted Protein Degradation is preferred
  • Strong expertise in High-Throughput Screening (DEL, ASMS, etc.) analysis and subsequent follow-up studies
  • Experience of managing CROs is essential
  • Familiarity with early stages of pre-clinical research in drug discovery
  • High level of proficiency with databases, data analysis and visualization tools
  • Proficiency in complex molecule synthesis and/or synthetic method development experience
  • Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in global, cross-disciplinary drug discovery teams
