About this role
The University of Mount Saint Vincent, founded by the Sisters of Charity of New York, seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Chemistry. This academically excellent, inclusive Catholic liberal arts university emphasizes development of the whole person. The role focuses on teaching freshman nursing chemistry and general science courses in the School of Natural and Mathematical Sciences.
Primary responsibilities include delivering nursing chemistry lecture and laboratory courses covering general, organic, and biochemistry. Teach general science and non-majors’ chemistry courses to diverse students. Engage in departmental and school-wide activities to support the academic community.

Participate in department meetings, colloquium, and other academic events. This environment combines a strong core curriculum with liberal arts and professional studies.
The position starts August 18, 2025, for the 2025-2026 academic year. Priority consideration for applications received by May 20, 2025. All applications will be reviewed while advancing obligations to each other through education.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field
- Experience teaching in higher education preferred
- Expertise in general, organic, and biochemistry
- Ability to teach nursing chemistry to freshmen
- Proficiency in general science instruction for non-majors
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques for chemistry courses
